Terms for Parents / Guardians
By signing in to your Manjano parent account, you accept these Terms on your own behalf and for the child(ren) you register.
What Manjano is. Manjano is a technology platform that lets you view the approximate live location, trip status, and pick-up/drop-off updates of the school bus assigned to your child. Manjano is software only. We do not own, operate, drive, maintain, or crew any vehicle, and we do not provide transport. Transport is provided by your child's school and/or its appointed transport operator.
Information is provided "as is". Location, estimated times of arrival, and notifications depend on GPS signals, mobile networks, device being used, and other third-party factors outside our control, and may be delayed, interrupted, inaccurate, or unavailable. Do not rely on Manjano as the only way of ensuring your child's safety, pick-up, or drop-off. Always keep direct contact arrangements with the school and driver.
Your responsibilities. You agree to,
(a) provide accurate registration details of yourself and your child(ren);
(b) keep your login confidential and not share your account;
(c) ensure a responsible adult receives the child at drop-off/pick-up stops;
(d) contact the school directly — not Manjano — for any transport, safety, scheduling, fee, or conduct issue.
No safety guarantee. Manjano does not supervise children, vet drivers, inspect vehicles, or control routes, timings, or conduct. Responsibility for your child's safety and supervision during transport rests with the school and its transport operator.
You confirm your authority. You confirm you are the parent or lawful guardian of the child you register and are authorised to allow Manjano to collect and use your child's name, school, route, and bus location data so the service can work.
Acceptable use. You will not misuse the Service, attempt to access other families' data, reverse-engineer the platform, or use location data unlawfully. Location data is provided solely for the safety of your own registered child.
Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Manjano is not liable for any loss, injury, delay, damage, or harm arising from
(a) transport services provided by the school or operator;
(b) the acts or omissions of drivers, schools, or third parties;
(c) inaccurate, delayed, or unavailable location or notification data; or
(d) your reliance on the Service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by Kenyan law.
Indemnity. You agree to hold Manjano harmless against claims arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.
Changes. We may update the Service or these Terms and will post the updated version. Continued use means acceptance.
Suspension. We may suspend or disable your account at your child's school request or if we detect misuse, a safety risk, or a security breach.
Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya have exclusive jurisdiction.
Privacy
Who is responsible for your data. Where a school uses Manjano, the school is the data controller and Manjano is the data processor acting on the school's instructions. Manjano processes personal data to provide the Service and as required by Kenyan law, including the Data Protection Act, 2019.
What we collect.
Parents/guardians: name, contact details, your child's headshot picture, name & school, assigned route, and your account activity.
Drivers: name, contact details, ID, the account and trips assigned to you, and the vehicle's real-time location while a trip is active.
Schools: the student, the parents, the drivers, and vehicle records the school enters, and administrator account details.
Everyone: basic technical data needed to run the app securely (such as device and log information).
Why we use it. To show live bus location and trip status to authorised users, send pick-up/drop-off and trip notifications, operate and secure the accounts, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell your personal data.
Who can see it. Location and trip data are shared only with the users authorised for that route — the assigned driver, the relevant school, and the parents of children on that bus. We use trusted service providers (such as secure hosting and mapping) to run the Service; they process data only on our instructions.
Children's data. Data about children is handled only to deliver the transport-tracking service, on the basis of consent obtained by the school and/or the parent/guardian.
How long we keep it. We keep personal data for as long as the account is active and the service relationship continues, and then delete or return it in line with the school's instructions and applicable law.
Security. We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. If a personal-data breach occurs, we act promptly and notify the responsible school and, where required, the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
Your rights. Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 you may request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, or deletion, and you may object to or restrict certain processing. Because the school is the data controller, please make requests to your school; Manjano will support the school in responding.
Contact. For privacy questions, contact your school's administrator.
By signing in, you confirm you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Privacy.
